Process
The process of scanning and routing a document is very straightforward. Follow the screenshots below to walk through the process:
Step 1:
If you are scanning a new document, using your finger, touch the button on the screen labeled 'Scan Document'. If you would like to continue working with a document you previously scanned, touch the button labeled 'Open Hold File'.

If you have chosen to require users to enter their username and passwords, you will now be prompted for that information. Only users with valid Windows Domain or Novell network logins will be permitted to access any of eRouters features.

Step 2:
If scanning a new document, you will now be prompted to select the settings for the scan. Select the appropriate options, load your document into the feeder and touch the 'Scan' button.

Step 3:
Once all the pages have been scanned, you will be able to review your document to ensure it scanned correctly. If all the pages appear okay, touch the 'Proceed' button, otherwise you can make some modifications to your document.

Step 4:
If you need to clean-up the appearance of your document before distributing it, you have numerous options to choose from.
If your document has some pages that are double-sided but also some that are single-sided, you do not need to scan them separately. Just scan the entire document as double-sided, then under the 'Document' drop-down menu, select 'Delete Blank Pages'. This will automatically eliminate any pages with no text or graphics on them.
You can also rotate pages (individually or all pages), rescan pages, insert or append pages and more.
You also have the ability to Markup the document as well. You can use tools like a highlighter, eraser or apply a rubberstamp to the document. You can also use the redact tool to black out any information that you don't want the recipient to see.

At this point, you can also apply a Bates Stamp to your document by touching the 'Bates Stamp' button.

Step 5:
Once the document is exactly how you want it, you will be brought to the Routing Screen. From here, you select where you would like to send your document. Each selection will prompt you for specific information to route your document correctly.

Step 6:
For most of the selections on the Routing Screen, you will be prompted to select the file format that you would like the file sent in.

File Format Dialog
After you select the format, you can enter the filename for the file, or just select the default name.

As you can see in the screenshot above, anywhere that text input is required from the user, a virtual keyboard is displayed on the screen. This provides consistency within eRouter allow users to interact solely with the touchscreen and not have to between the screen, keyboard and mouse.
Step 7:
If you selected to email the document, you will now be prompted for the recipients information. eRouter can use your existing LDAP-compatible addressbook to select the recipients of the email.

Email Screen
Once the user touches the 'Send' button, the message will be emailed to the specified recipients and include the scanned document as an attachment.
Step 8:
You will now be returned to the Routing Screen, where you have several options:
- If you are done with this document, touch the 'Finished' button. This will return you to the Main Screen where you, or another user, can scan a new document
- If you would like to send this document to another destination, you can select as many as desired. With eRouter you can send a document to multiple locations, without rescanning!
- You can also touch the 'Back' button and clean-up the document further. For example, if you scanned 20 pages and wanted to email all 20 pages to a particular person, but 5 pages of that were confidential so you wanted to email the remaining 15 pages to someone else, it's no problem. You would email the 20 pages to the first person, delete the 5 confidential pages, then email the remaining 15 pages to the second person.
- What if you wanted to email this document to someone but forgot their email address and need to go back to your desk? Just touch the 'Hold for Later' button and open it up again when you're ready.
As you can see, eRouter is extremely flexible. This is only a brief overview of it's features.
